Thai Amulet Rian Phra Buddha Panjapakee

Back King Rama IX | Pim Yai (Large Size)

Copper Material | BE 2539 (1996) | Complete 5 Coin Set

This sacred Phra Buddha Panjapakee Rama IX Edition (BE 2539) was created to honor the great Buddhist heritage of Thailand and to commemorate the auspicious era of
Bhumibol Adulyadej (King Rama IX).

This listing is for the complete set of 5 large-size (Pim Yai) copper coins, representing the Five Great Buddha Images of Thailand (Panjapakee).

History of Phra Buddha Panjapakee

“Panjapakee” means Five Sacred Buddha Images, referring to the most revered Buddha images in Thai Buddhist tradition:

  1. Phra Phuttha Chinnarat – Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat, Phitsanulok

  2. Phra Phuttha Sihing – National Museum / Chiang Mai tradition

  3. Phra Mongkhon Bophit – Ayutthaya

  4. Phra Phuttha Chinnasi – Phitsanulok

  5. Phra Phuttha Sothon – Wat Sothon Wararam

These five Buddha images are regarded as the highest-ranking and most spiritually powerful Buddha images in Thailand.

Special Rama IX Commemorative Design

The reverse side features the royal portrait of
Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The edition was created in BE 2539 (1996) during his reign as a tribute to:

  • His dedication to Buddhism

  • His role as defender of the faith

  • National unity under the monarchy

This combination of Five Great Buddhas + Rama IX makes the set historically and spiritually significant.

History of Making & Blessing Ceremony (BE 2539)

The Panjapakee Rama IX edition was created with the intention to:

  • Unite devotion to the Five Supreme Buddha images

  • Commemorate the King’s merit and reign

  • Provide a complete protection and prosperity set

Large-scale consecration ceremonies (Phutthaphisek) were traditionally performed with participation from respected senior monks from various temples connected to the five sacred Buddha images.

Such ceremonies typically included:

  • Chanting of sacred paritta

  • Invocation of Buddha’s virtues

  • Multi-day blessing rituals

(Exact participating monk lists may vary by production batch; these editions were generally blessed in formal temple ceremonies connected with the Panjapakee temples.)
